Bike and Hike France/Spain
Saturday, June 21st, Kaitlin and I will take off on our next adventure. For phase 1, we are going to bike from our house in the Alps to the town of Irun on the Spain-France border.
This route is approximately 1,000 km long and features around 30,000 ft of climbing.
On our road bikes, it should take 6-8 days, depending on how leisurely we ride. Will wine and good food distract us from our goals? Will headwinds slow us down? Or will we be stoked and going way further than planned each day? We will see what the road brings.
Then, once we arrive, we will spend a few days eating good food and relaxing (as much as I know how). During this time, we will ship our bikes back home to a local bike shop and gear up for phase two of the adventure.
Phase 2 involves hiking the GR11 from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea along the Pyrenees.
This leg of the journey is 800km long and has 125,000ft of climbing.
We expect this leg of the journey to last about a month. We will start at the coast, travel through the Basque Country, then the High Pyrenees, and finish back at the sea. We'll visit many national parks, and I'm excited to return to Andorra. Our tentative plan is to take one day off each week to rest and resupply. We will be primarily tenting and will stay in refuges at times (especially if there is bad weather).
Back to packing and preparing for us. Photos of us loaded up on our bikes with our backpacking gear on our backs to come.

Sounds incredible! Keep us posted;)
